What do you think about this German Shepherd Dog breeder?
Make sure this is the lifestyle you want to get into, and if you can afford the costs or training, traveling, and showing. Her dogs look amazing. Check out the GS breed website to see what health issues whty face and what testing is done by breeders, then make sure that she is holding to the code of ethics set forth by the club. A pretty web page doesn't make a good breeder. You'll also want to decide if you want to pay more for a show dog, or if you want to enter into a spay/neutered contract. She's going to be checking you out as well. Get a copy of her sales contract now to see what your requirements should be. She's going to ask you if you have your own home or apartment. is the home fenced. Do you have permission from your landlord to keep a GS. Does your fencing meet with the breed requirements. She's going to know that code of ethics like the back of her hand. You need to too. There are certain health certificates that she needs to have to clear her dogs against any genetic disease. Most likely a heart, hips, patella, and eyes certs, or any that are related to your breeds health issues. She would have to take both parents to a clinic and get them tested by cardiologists and such. Never assume that because she is successful in the show ring that she knows what she's doing as a breeder. I just wrote to the Austrailian Kennel Club because one of their top breeders renigged on a puppy sale and refused to hand it over because it had done well in the show ring the weekend before the pup was to be picked up. She may want to only sell a show pup to someone who's successfully shown before so she is assured that her name will remain out there.
