My dog put his teeth around my arm but didn't bite?

I guess I get how he could be showing dominance and I never worked in an animal shelter but I have owned/been around many dogs...and a dog has only ever done this to me when we were playing, and never once has a dog actually bit me. I seriously doubt he will ever actually bite you, there's a reason they are called man's best friend.
